JUNIOR SYMPOSIUM
Senior Symposium is a formal multi-round discussion event in which teams of students investigate, analyse, and present their stance on global, legal and social issues. It is designed to mirror the structured, evidence-based discussions typical of high-level academic and policy settings. Participants are expected to approach their chosen topic with rigour, developing a well-researched and clearly reasoned position communicated through both a prepared PowerPoint presentation and individual oral delivery. Participants are evaluated on the content and coherence of their arguments, their confidence, clarity of expression, and ability to answer questions spontaneously. Open to students from Grades 9 through 12.

LAWYERS' UP
Lawyers' Up is a competitive legal debate event in which participants take on the roles of opposing counsel and argue an impromptu fictional legal case before a panel of judges. Participants receive a simple hypothetical case and must argue the position assigned to them, regardless of personal opinion. Unlike Moot Court (which focuses on legal proceedings, doctrines, laws and precedent), Lawyers' Up is much more fluid, focusing on rhetoric and legal principles. It evaluates a participant's grasp of legal principles and procedure, and their ability to anticipate counterarguments, respond under pressure, and maintain the composure of a practising advocate. Open to students from Grades 9 through 12.
JUNIOR SYMPOSIUM
Junior Symposium is a creative and expressive competition designed to introduce younger students to legal awareness and civic thought. It comprises three formats ā Poster Making, Speech, and Essay Writing ā each offering a different medium to explore and articulate social and legal issues. Open exclusively to Chettinad Vidyashram students, Grades 6 through 8.
MOOT COURT
Moot Court is a simulated court proceeding in which participants argue hypothetical legal cases before a panel of judges. Modelled on the appellate phase of litigation, students act as lawyers and present legal arguments rather than examining witnesses or introducing evidence. Participants receive a fictional case and deliver oral arguments supporting one side; judges may pose questions to test their legal understanding. Participants are evaluated on the strength of their arguments, their understanding of the law, and their court manners before the bench. Open to students from Grades 11 and 12.
